Actor Woody Norman stated that he tried to humanize King Richard II in the medieval film The Uprising, according to UPI. However, Norman noted that making the character human does not mean audiences should like the monarch. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday. [1]

UPI reported that the film is set in the 14th century following the bubonic plague in England. The storyline centers on the hero Ploughman, played by Andrew Garfield, who leads a revolt against King Richard II and his corrupt advisers after the plague leaves the peasantry starving and grieving. [1]

Norman is an English actor born in Hampstead, North London, to television director Ross Norman and former girl group member Vonda Barnes. He received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2021 film C'mon C'mon. His other screen credits include roles in The Electric State, Poldark, and The Last Voyage of the Demeter. [1][2][4]
