Sammy's Restaurant and Beach Bar in Inch, West Kerry, has been sold for an amount exceeding its asking price of 950,000 euros. Radio Kerry reported that the sale of the property was managed by David O'Driscoll Auctioneers. [1]
The establishment was originally founded in 1987. The Kilkenny Group purchased the business in 2019 before putting the property up for sale in 2023. [1]
Housing challenges continue to impact the wider West Kerry area. Radio Kerry reported that Dr Ann Nolan, a professor at Trinity College, informed an Oireachtas committee that a long-building housing crisis threatens the sustainability of Irish as a community language in the West Kerry Gaeltacht. [2]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, research shows that house prices on the Dingle Peninsula far outpace local incomes. Short-term rentals and holiday homes significantly outnumber permanent residences in parts of the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht, where official recognition by the Irish government dates back to the 1920s.
