The United States military disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman after the ship ignored warnings and attempted to breach a naval blockade on Iran. Al Jazeera, the Washington Post, the New York Post, and AP News all reported the action by American forces. US Central Command stated late Saturday that the St. Kitts-flagged ship ignored multiple warnings and attempted to leave the region after visiting an Iranian port, according to the New York Post. [1][2][3][6]

The United Arab Emirates stated on Sunday that it had rescued 22 crew members from a burning cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz, Al Jazeera and the National both reported. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations also noted that a bulk carrier and military forces were involved in an incident in the Gulf of Oman, according to Arab News. [1][9][10]

United States forces have been enforcing a naval blockade on Iran for several months in and around the Strait of Hormuz, the New York Post reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, American forces previously disabled the Panama-flagged cargo ship M/V Ocean Molica in the Gulf of Oman after Central Command stated it attempted to breach the blockade upon leaving an Iranian port. [3][13]

Since 1 March 2026, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting ports in Oman and Omani territorial waters, including the Port of Duqm and the Port of Salalah. The attacks in Oman killed 14 people and injured 35 others. [12]
