US Coast Guard suspends search for missing medical aircraft

The United States Coast Guard has suspended the search for six people aboard a missing medical flight, according to The Hill and Investing.com. The Guardian reported that debris from the medical transport plane was found after the aircraft vanished over the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday morning. [2][3][5]

The aircraft went missing off the coast of Massachusetts during a flight from Bermuda to Boston, according to The Guardian. The Hill reported that the search operations were suspended following efforts near Nantucket. Coast Guard Northeast District Commander Matthew Lake stated that suspending a search is not an easy decision. [3][4][5]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the aircraft was an air ambulance Gulfstream G-100 carrying six people, including passengers and crew. The Federal Aviation Administration had issued a search and rescue alert notice at approximately 1:20 am local time on Saturday after flight controllers lost contact with the plane. [3][13][14]

Researches discovered debris from the missing plane over the weekend, according to The Guardian. All six passengers and crew members who were on board remain unaccounted for after the Coast Guard called off active search operations in the region. [3][5]
