Iranian state media reported explosions on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and in the cities of Jask, Sirik, and Bandar Abbas, according to Al Jazeera, Haaretz, and Türkiye Today. The Jerusalem Post and Reuters also noted that Iranian state media reported blasts on Qeshm Island and at multiple locations in southern Iran. Additionally, Al Jazeera reported that United States Central Command has formed a task force to disrupt land supply routes used by Iran. [1][5][6][7][8]

United States President Donald Trump confirmed to reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, that American forces carried out minor strikes against Qeshm Island. UPI and CNBC reported that Trump said the military operation knocked out an anti-aircraft device in five to 15 minutes. CNBC added that Iranian media reported two missiles had struck Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz before Trump made his comments. [2][4]

The conflict is part of the 2026 Iran war, which began on February 28, 2026. The war started when the United States and Israel launched hundreds of air strikes across Iran, including operations that assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other Iranian officials during nuclear negotiations. As FTMQ News reported earlier, American forces also previously targeted Iranian surface-to-air missile positions on Qeshm Island. [9][10][11][12]
