Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian oil refineries, according to BBC News and CNBC. Zelensky told the Financial Times that a three-day block on striking Russian energy targets has ended because Moscow continued its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. [1][4]
BBC News and CNBC both reported that the brief pause had been requested by Washington following a proposed energy ceasefire introduced by United States President Donald Trump. CNBC noted that Trump announced the proposed ceasefire on Sunday in an effort to stop both countries from targeting energy facilities. [1][4]
According to BBC News, Zelensky accused the United States of withdrawing crucial support, including intelligence-sharing on Russian strikes, to pressure Kyiv into stopping its attacks. He also suggested that a recent slowdown in Starlink satellite services used by the Ukrainian military was deliberate. [1]
Zelensky criticized a recent deal involving Washington importing Russian diesel fuel. According to the New York Post, Zelensky told Piers Morgan Uncensored that Trump had chosen the wrong side by agreeing to buy Russian diesel, stating that the move handed Russian President Vladimir Putin an easy victory. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Trump had previously called for Ukraine to select a new leader following Zelensky's criticism of the fuel agreement. [1][2][18]
