Gardaí arrested two men following significant public disorder at a boxing event in Kilkenny city on Saturday night, according to the Irish Examiner and the Irish Times. The Irish Examiner reported that a fight broke out at The Hub in Cillín Hill where English right-wing activist Tommy Robinson was allegedly attacked. [1][2]

The Irish Times reported that fighter Mo Deen jumped out of the ring after winning his match and attacked Robinson, who was watching from the front row. The attack sparked a brawl in the crowd before Robinson was brought into the ring for a face-off with Deen. The Irish Examiner noted that observers believed the brawl was contrived to generate interest in a future boxing event. [1][2]

Paramedics treated at least one injured person at the scene before an ambulance transported them to the hospital, according to the Irish Times. The Irish Examiner reported that a charged teenager appeared in court in Clonmel on Sunday afternoon. The second arrested man, who is in his 20s, was held at a garda station. [1][2]

Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, who uses the pseudonym Tommy Robinson, co-founded the English Defence League and led the group from 2009 to 2013. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Robinson was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court in London of harassing two Daily Mail journalists after hiring private investigators to track them down. [7][10][11]
