President Donald Trump criticized United States senators on Monday for failing to pass a bill to make daylight saving time permanent. The New York Post reported that President Trump spoke to supporters in Corinth, Mississippi, calling the twice-yearly clock changes stupid. Bloomberg reported that President Trump held the rally in Mississippi where a Republican Senate seat is at risk. [1][10]

According to the New York Post, President Trump urged the Senate to take a vote on the matter. He stated that the House of Representatives has already passed a bill five times to make daylight saving time permanent. President Trump joked that changing the clocks makes him late, telling the crowd that many Americans are very disappointed by stalling politicians. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, President Trump previously pushed for the passage of the Sunshine Protection Act to make daylight saving time permanent. That legislation passed the House in July but encountered roadblocks in the Senate. [14]

The United States Senate consists of two seats allocated equally to each state, as described by Grokipedia. The chamber provides institutional continuity and holds the authority to ratify treaties and confirm executive appointments. [13]
