Three water companies are seeking to impose severe restrictions on businesses as drought conditions continue across most of England. The Guardian reported that non-essential use bans could prevent businesses from using mains water during the ongoing supply threat. [1]

Under the proposed restrictions, golf clubs and private schools could be barred from using mains water to irrigate playing fields and golf courses. According to the Guardian, commercial car washes could also be stopped from operating. [1]

The restrictions are being sought because 11 areas of England remain in drought. The Guardian reported that rivers across the country are currently suffering from low flows, which is putting local wildlife under huge pressure. [1]

Water supply issues have also affected businesses in other regions. As FTMQ News reported earlier, frequent water disruptions in Leixlip, County Kildare, forced local coffee shops and hair salons to alter their daily operations after the town experienced three outages in just over one week during September.
