Radio Kerry reported that more than 193,000 euros in funding has been announced for 10 community centres across County Kerry. Projects in the region will receive allocations of up to 25,000 euros under the Community Centre Investment Fund. Children's Minister Norma Foley welcomed the allocation. [1]
According to Radio Kerry, the funding will support various facility improvements. These projects include upgrades to lighting and heating, the installation of solar panels, replacement of flooring, and the construction of new toilets. [1]
The recipients of the funding include Kerry's Writer Museum in Listowel, Waterville Community Centre, An Diseart in Dingle, and Sliabh Luachra Cultural and Heritage Centre in Scartaglen. A community centre functions as a public location where community members gather for social support, group activities, and public information. [1][2]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Minister for Children Norma Foley previously welcomed a separate capital funding grant of nearly 57,000 euros awarded to six youth services across County Kerry for facility upgrades and equipment purchases. [4]
