Storm Adam has caused severe flooding across eastern Spain, killing between two and five people as the DANA weather system began to ease on Tuesday. Euronews and AOL reported that at least five people died, while earlier reports from the Majorca Daily Bulletin, UA.NEWS, and The Independent listed two dead. EU Today put the death toll at three, and Olive Press News Spain reported that four people had died. [1][2][3][8][9][10][11]

The storm brought torrential rain that caused widespread disruption and emergency rescues. Euronews reported that the Civil Guard evacuated more than 2,100 people and rescued almost 500 in the Valencia region. In the Valencian town of Oliva, rainfall reached 600 litres per square metre within 24 hours, leaving around 600 people in need of assistance. The New York Post noted that the storm also flooded Ibiza airport and caused travel chaos. [1][6][7]

The latest casualties follow severe weather that began over the weekend. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a woman died after being swept away by floodwaters in Cabrera de Mar on Saturday evening. Storm Adam forms part of the 2026 to 2027 European windstorm season, which is the twelfth occurrence of the continent's coordinated severe weather naming programme. [12][15]

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is scheduled to visit Valencia on Tuesday at approximately 12:30 to assess the damage caused by the storm. Euronews reported that the prime minister will address the media following his visit. [1]
