Hundreds of Marvel fans dressed in Spider-Man costumes gathered at New York Comic Con on October 9 in an effort to set a new world record. UPI reported that the Thursday event was organized by toy company Jazwares alongside Disney Consumer Products. [1]

The organizers attempted to break the official Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Spider-Man. According to UPI, organizers have not released a final participant count, but they confirmed that the turnout fell just short of the existing record. [1]

The current world record stands at 685 participants. UPI reported that Sony Pictures Entertainment Malaysia set the mark in 2023 during a promotional event for the theatrical release of the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. [1]

Spider-Man first appeared in his own solo comic book series in March 1963. Over the decades, the character has grown into one of the most commercially successful media franchises in history. [6]
