Prime Video Releases Trailer for Blade Runner 2099 Limited Series

Prime Video premiered a new trailer for its upcoming limited series Blade Runner 2099 at New York Comic Con, according to reports from UPI, Variety, and Polygon. UPI reported that the streaming service released a two and a half minute trailer during a panel at the event. [1][3][4]

Variety and UPI reported that the show is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049 in a reborn Los Angeles. The narrative follows Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, a fugitive who becomes a Blade Runner. Cora is forced to partner with Olwen, a Replicant near death played by Michelle Yeoh, according to details confirmed by Variety, Polygon, and UPI. [1][3][4]

According to Polygon, the storyline centers on a mystery involving 38 replicants who have gone missing over the past year. Deadline noted that the central characters team up to search for a cure for all replicants. [4][8]

The science fiction franchise originated from the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. The original Blade Runner film was directed by Ridley Scott in 1982 and was set in a dystopian Los Angeles. Polygon reported that the new limited series is scheduled to be released next month.
