Six cities in California are among the top ten riskiest locations for drivers in the United States, according to data from LendingTree reported by the New York Post. San Diego ranked second nationwide with 28.2 crashes per 1,000 drivers. Los Angeles and San Francisco tied for third place with 26.9 crashes per 1,000 drivers. [1]
The New York Post reported that Sacramento placed sixth with 25.6 crashes per 1,000 drivers. Long Beach recorded 22.7 crashes per 1,000 drivers, while San Jose recorded 22.3. Only Raleigh, North Carolina, ranked worse than San Diego, topping the national list with 29.1 crashes per 1,000 drivers. The national average across the country was 17.9 crashes per 1,000 drivers. [1]
The study derived its rankings from QuoteWizard insurance quote data collected in August. California became the 31st state in the United States on September 9, 1850. The state contains coastal areas, the Central Valley, the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the Mojave Desert. [1][3]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, drivers in California have also faced economic pressures, including gasoline prices that averaged $6.14 per gallon in October. [4]
