California gas prices top Hawaii rates as Los Angeles drivers express frustration

Drivers in California are facing higher costs at the gas pump than residents in Hawaii. The New York Post reported that gasoline prices in California reached an average of $6.14 per gallon on Tuesday, according to figures from AAA. On the same day, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in Hawaii stood at $5.63. [1]

The price difference comes despite California producing millions of barrels of oil each year within the state. In contrast, Hawaii has no oil drilling operations. Drivers expressed frustration over state policies as costs continue to mount. At a Shell gas station on the corner of Pico and Sepulveda Boulevards in Los Angeles on Tuesday, 48-year-old resident Csaba Mester criticized California policies for the financial strain put on motorists. Specific stations in Hawaii offered lower rates than the state average on Tuesday. The New York Post reported that a gas station in Honolulu charged $5.39 per gallon for regular gasoline.
