Reform UK faced fresh questions over its candidate vetting procedures on Thursday night, the Daily Mail reported. The scrutiny follows revelations that party politicians made racist and sexist comments. An undercover ITV investigation recorded a staff member discussing the party's approach to checking potential candidates, asking if they would cause problems with the press. [1]
The undercover investigation also revealed that one candidate was rejected twice after displaying support for far right activists, according to the Daily Mail. As FTMQ News reported earlier, broadcast footage showed a party chairman advising a reporter to delete social media posts supporting Tommy Robinson. [1][5]
Reform UK is a right wing populist political party in the United Kingdom, led by Nigel Farage since June 2024. The party holds eight seats in the House of Commons and controls 26 local councils. [2]
The fresh allegations follow earlier reports by FTMQ News that three Reform UK councillors resigned after secretly recorded footage caught them making racist, sexist, and violent remarks. Reform UK has previously stated that it has improved and prioritised its vetting procedures. [5][6]
