Tampa Bay Rays left fielder Chandler Simpson made a leaping catch before crashing face first into the outfield wall in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night, Fox News reported. The play prevented a hit off the bat of Milwaukee Brewers hitter Sal Frelick at Tropicana Field, saving a run as Tampa Bay tried to avoid going down 3-0 in the series, Fox News said. [1]

The play occurred in the early stages of the contest at Tropicana Field. Multiple outlets, including Yahoo Sports, FOX Sports, USA Today, and the Sporting News, reported that Simpson slammed directly into the wall to complete the catch and keep the game scoreless. [1][8][9][10][11]

According to CBS Sports and the New York Post, the Brewers entered Monday with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series after winning the first two games in Milwaukee. The Brewers posted a 5-4 victory in Game 2, CBS Sports reported. Milwaukee started left-hander Robert Gasser on the mound, while the Rays countered with right-handed pitcher Freddy Peralta, according to the New York Post. [2][3][4]

Simpson made his Major League Baseball debut in 2025 [12]. The World Series is the annual best-of-seven championship series played between the American League and National League champions [13]. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the Rays entered the series seeking their first World Series title in franchise history [16]. [12][13][16]
