President Donald Trump publicly praised Los Angeles federal prosecutor Bill Essayli on October 31, 2026, despite a legal ruling that blocked federal efforts regarding California voters. According to the New York Post, a federal court rejected the administration's push to set aside roughly 20,000 ballots linked to suspected noncitizens. President Trump called Essayli one of the best prosecutors ever in a post on Truth Social. [1][5]

The New York Post reported that President Trump accused the court of blocking an attempt to fix election fraud. The president stated that his administration will continue its legal challenge over disputed voter registrations in California following a series of court setbacks for the Department of Justice. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Essayli previously stated that Los Angeles election officials rely on self-attestation to verify citizenship, warning that this practice creates gaps in safeguards. A federal judge had previously ruled that the Department of Justice cannot force states to provide voter rolls for citizenship checks. Recent federal enforcement actions in Southern California resulted in the indictment of 28 foreign nationals on election fraud charges, including citizens of Mexico, Cambodia, and Canada. [7][8]

Donald Trump serves as the 47th president of the United States. According to the New York Post, the ongoing battle over California voter registrations remains a central point of conflict for his administration. [1][5][6]
