Hampshire police have arrested two 16-year-old boys from Southampton on suspicion of attempted murder, BBC News and the Daily Echo reported on November 5. The arrests follow a stabbing incident at a Halloween party in Chandler's Ford. [1][2][3]
Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Pirie said that during an investigation of this nature, police gather information that requires them to make arrests to secure evidence and take statements. She stated that officers have been working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to evaluate the available evidence and review whether charges can be authorised or if further enquiries are needed. [1]
BBC News reported that officers have released two of the arrested teenagers on police bail while the investigation continues. Detective Chief Inspector Pirie confirmed that the bail includes strict conditions that are monitored by police to ensure compliance. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, five teenage boys aged 16 and 17 were stabbed at the party on Saturday night. Previous arrests included a 16-year-old boy from Bristol who was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, and one 17-year-old victim remained in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
