A shop owner in Paris named Hassan has recounted how rioters physically attacked him and ransacked his technology and courier business over the weekend, Euronews reported. The business is located on a main street off the Place de la République in the French capital. [1]
According to Euronews, Hassan stated that rioters attacked him physically and threatened to break a wine bottle on his head. He was forced to abandon his shop to the attackers, who left the premises completely destroyed. Hassan told the news outlet that he has not slept in three days following the attack. [1]
Hassan arrived in France from Bangladesh in 2010, Euronews reported. After working for years in the hospitality industry, he saved enough money to open his own business before it was destroyed in the aftermath of the weekend unrest. [1]
The city of Paris originates from the Parisii, a Celtic tribe that lived along the Seine River from around the mid-third century BC, according to historical background. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Paris was also affected by a major fire that destroyed parts of the Marché des Enfants Rouges covered food market on October 12. [4][5]
