A nine-year-old girl named Demelza May is leading a campaign against plans to build a large artificial intelligence data centre campus in Devon, the Daily Mail reported. The developer Xlinks proposes to construct the facility across 850 acres of countryside, located one mile from the town of Great Torrington. [1]
The Daily Mail said the proposed project is valued at 13 billion pounds and would build over land between Great Torrington, Huntshaw, and Weare Giffard. Local residents were first informed about the proposal through flyers delivered to their letterboxes in June. [1]
Demelza May is protesting against the development alongside her mother, 30-year-old Daisy Hiron-Snow, the Daily Mail reported. Local residents have joined the opposition against the plans, which would make the facility the largest data centre in Europe. [1]
The continent of Europe is bordered by the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and Asia. As FTMQ News reported earlier, energy infrastructure developments for artificial intelligence facilities are also expanding elsewhere in Britain, including a major electricity substation planned on Teesside.
