American voters rejected the narrative of President Donald Trump during the United States midterm elections, according to the Guardian and the Telegraph. The Guardian reported that Trump repeatedly claimed a new golden age was under way prior to the vote. He pointed to the stock market hitting 88 all-time highs and stated that the nation had achieved more in less than two years than any previous administration. [1][2]

The Guardian reported that Trump downplayed the conflict in Iran by stating that the United States had done very little fighting. However, voters turned against the administration as prices soared and the conflict continued. The Telegraph similarly reported that Trump was punished by voters during the midterms. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Trump acknowledged that the war and higher petrol prices contributed to Republican election losses, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf claimed Americans voted against the war. [1][2][6]

The Democratic Party won control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the elections, as FTMQ News reported earlier citing CNBC projections. The Democratic Party is a center-left political party founded in 1828, and it remains the primary rival to the Republican Party. Commentary from the Irish Independent stated that the political era of Trump appears to have reached its conclusion following the election results. [3][5][6]

The midterm results come after extensive public debate surrounding Trump, who served as the 45th and 47th president of the United States. Scholars and critics have debated his rhetoric and actions during his presidential campaigns and his second term, with some drawing comparisons to historical authoritarian leaders while others rejected such descriptions.
