A Utah couple narrowly escaped injury on Friday, October 24, 2026, when a massive rock slide occurred below Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon. The New York Post reported that Bailee and Emerson Hamilton were driving through the area when they witnessed a large section of rock break loose from the hillside. [1]

The couple captured video footage of the boulders tumbling down the slope. Emerson Hamilton stated to ABC 4, as cited by the New York Post, that their immediate concern was for pedestrians, noting that the canyon experiences heavy foot traffic on Friday afternoons. [1]

The Hamiltons have resided near Provo Canyon for ten years and travel through it almost every day, according to the New York Post. No injuries were immediately reported following the incident. [1]

The state name Utah derives from the Spanish term Yuta, which refers to the indigenous Ute people whose territory spanned parts of the region, according to Grokipedia. The Ute people call themselves Nuuchu, which translates to the people. [4]
