World Rally Championship winner Kris Meeke is returning to compete in the Killarney Towers Hotel Killarney Historic Rally on November 29, Radio Kerry reported. He will drive an Ahern’s BMW M3 E30 prepared by MATS Performance alongside local co-driver Noel O'Sullivan. The pair enter the event following an overall victory at Rali Ceredigion in Wales. [1]
Radio Kerry reported that Meeke led the Killarney rally from the first stage through to the penultimate test last year before suffering mechanical problems. Meeke is an Irish rally driver who won the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion title while driving a Peugeot 207 S2000. He started his career as a computer aided designer with M-Sport at the headquarters of the Ford World Rally Team before moving to competitive driving in 2001. [2][4]
The event takes place in Killarney, a town located in County Kerry in southwestern Ireland. Nestled on the northeastern shore of Lough Leane, the town sits in a lowland valley near the MacGillycuddy's Reeks mountain range. [3][5]
