Kerry man jailed for twelve and a half years for rape and assault

Radio Kerry reported that Krystian Zahnoj, aged 32 and of Market Street, Tralee, was sentenced to twelve and a half years in prison for raping and assaulting his former partner. The sentence was handed down at the Central Criminal Court. [1]

Earlier this year, a jury at the Central Criminal Court in Cork convicted Krystian Zahnoj of rape and assault causing harm for an incident that occurred on a date in 2022. Radio Kerry reported that he was also convicted of coercively controlling the woman and assault causing harm for offences committed between 2019 and 2021 during their relationship. [1]

The victim requested that Krystian Zahnoj be named in media reporting of the case while choosing to keep her own anonymity. Her victim impact statement was read to the court during a previous hearing, according to Radio Kerry. [1]
