James McKenna jailed for 24 years after stabbing ex-partner in park

James McKenna has been jailed for 24 years after he attempted to murder his ex-partner in a park, BBC News reported. The attack occurred on 29 January when McKenna hid in bushes before attacking the woman as she walked her dog. [1][2][4]

A jury at Swansea Crown Court heard that McKenna was angry because his relationship with the victim, named as Sidaway, had ended a few months earlier. BBC News reported that McKenna took the newest and sharpest knife from his kitchen to the park, intending to cause her serious harm. [1]

During the trial, McKenna testified that he felt Sidaway was reluctant to speak with him. He stabbed her multiple times, but court details revealed that her thick winter coat helped to save her life and prevented fatal injuries. [1]

Following the knife attack, McKenna went into hiding for several days before he was captured by authorities during a police manhunt. [1][2][4]
