Republican nominee Ken Paxton and Democratic candidate James Talarico made their final campaign appearances on Monday ahead of Tuesday's midterm election for an open Texas Senate seat. The Washington Examiner reported that Paxton spoke at a rally in Allen, Texas, where he warned voters that the state's way of life was at risk. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reported that Talarico addressed a packed crowd of supporters at Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater in downtown Austin. [1][4]

During his final rally, Talarico compared his opponent to an obnoxious bar patron, according to the Daily Mail. CBS News and CNN both reported that Paxton altered his campaign schedule on the final day, removing a planned event at the Alamo and relocating his final rally to a restaurant. [3][4][7]

The race remains closely contested as voters head to the polls. Fox Business reported that a recent poll showed Talarico leading Paxton in the Senate race. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Democrats have not won a statewide election in Texas in over three decades, making the race a high-stakes battle for both political parties. [6][15]

Paxton has served as the 51st attorney general of Texas since 2015 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. Before entering public office, he earned a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991. [11][13]
