Jon Ossoff and Mike Collins set for Georgia Senate debate

Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff and Republican Representative Mike Collins are scheduled to participate in a United States Senate debate in Georgia on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The debate is hosted by the Atlanta Press Club and broadcast online and on television, according to reports from PBS NewsHour and the Reddit politics forum. The Washington Post also reported live coverage of the debate. [1][2][3]

The election takes place ahead of the general voting day scheduled for November 3, 2026. According to the Washington Examiner, the Democrats' Senate Majority PAC pulled its advertising funds from the Georgia race to redirect resources to red states, citing confidence in the fundraising skills and polling advantage of Ossoff. President Donald Trump won the state of Georgia in 2024, the Washington Examiner reported. [4][5][8]

Ossoff was first elected to the United States Senate in 2021 after winning a runoff election against incumbent David Perdue, PBS NewsHour reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Ossoff and Collins previously met in an hourlong debate in Atlanta where they clashed over affordability, data centers, immigration, and foreign policy. [2][8][10]

Under Georgia election rules, a runoff election will be held on December 1, 2026, if no candidate receives a majority of the votes in the November election. [8]
