Japan secures two world judo titles in Baku
Japanese judokas Akari Omori and Ryuga Tanaka won world titles in Baku as Japan continued its dominance at the World Judo Championships.

Japanese judokas Akari Omori and Ryuga Tanaka secured world titles in Baku, Euronews and Inbox.lv reported. Omori won her first world title in the women's under 57 kilogram division by defeating reigning champion Eteri Liparteliani in golden score. In the men's under 73 kilogram category, Tanaka defeated Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov in the final to complete a double victory for Japan. [1][4]
The victories follow earlier Japanese success at the tournament in Baku, where Hifumi Abe won his fifth world title alongside his sister, Japan Wire by Kyodo News and nippon.com reported. Off the mat at the National Gymnastics Arena, administrative agreements were finalized, Euronews reported. International Judo Federation President Marius Vizer and CBH Bank Chief Executive Officer Simon Benhamou signed a sponsorship deal. Additionally, IJF General Treasurer Naser Al Tamimi signed a memorandum of understanding with Gonzalo Londono, Secretary General of the International Police Sports Union. [1]
