According to irishexaminer.com, McEntee stated that Russia has increased its attacks on both critical and civilian infrastructure. She said Russia is attempting to turn off light, water, and heating in Ukraine, causing severe hardship for civilians. [1]
The Irish Examiner reported that McEntee noted the war has now seen the largest number of civilian casualties since the conflict began. She also said the Triple Lock mechanism is not working for Ireland. [1][2]
McEntee is a Fine Gael politician who has served as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence since November 2025, as well as deputy leader of Fine Gael since October 2024.
