A property developer based in Manchester has called on Housing Secretary Angela Rayner to investigate 55 million pounds of housing project loans granted to the Abu Dhabi United Group, the Daily Mail reported. Rayner faces criticism over accusations that she refused to look into allegations of favorable loans given to the owners of Manchester City Football Club by Andy Burnham. [1]

The developer raised the issue in a private letter seen by the Daily Mail. The letter questions why such a large sum of money was provided to the investment group. [1]

Angela Rayner has served as the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government since 2026. Andy Burnham served as the Mayor of Greater Manchester from 2017 to 2026 before taking office as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [8][9][12]

Separately, BBC Sport reported that Manchester City moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League table after securing a 3-2 victory against Ipswich. The Telegraph reported that striker Erling Haaland limped off during the match. [5][7]
