The New York Giants earned a 27-21 overtime victory against the Houston Texans on Sunday, CBS Sports and the New York Post reported. Running back Devin Singletary scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime to cap off the win, according to CBS Sports and the New York Post. Following the game, Giants head coach John Harbaugh credited the win to his players and his faith, Fox News reported. [1][3][4][5]

The victory came in the first start for quarterback J.J. McCarthy since being acquired by New York, CBS Sports and the New York Post reported. McCarthy was traded to the Giants from the Minnesota Vikings last month in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick, according to the New York Post. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the team made the switch to McCarthy for the Week 7 matchup against Houston after benching Jameis Winston. [2][3][4][12]

Running back Cam Skattebo posted a career-high 124 rushing yards on 17 carries and scored one touchdown, CBS Sports and Fox News reported. Skattebo returned to action after receiving zero carries in the previous week's loss to the New Orleans Saints following a fumble, according to CBS Sports. He helped set up Singletary's deciding touchdown in the overtime period, CBS Sports reported. [1][3][7]

McCarthy played college football for the Michigan Wolverines, leading the team to a national championship in 2023. Skattebo was selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft after playing college football at Sacramento State and Arizona State. [8][9]
