Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is full go for his return in Week 5 against the New York Giants, UPI and Bleacher Report reported on Thursday. Offensive coordinator David Blough told reporters that the team is looking forward to having him back on the field. The announcement comes after Daniels participated as a full practice participant on Wednesday, UPI noted. [1][5]

Daniels dislocated his left elbow during Week 2 of the season, UPI reported. He missed his next two starts due to the injury, as UPI, Fox News, and theScore also documented. As FTMQ News reported earlier, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota started in place of Daniels during his absence. [1][2][7][11][12]

Daniels returned to practice last week on a limited basis before progressing to full participation, according to UPI. Daniels told reporters that he wears a brace over his left, non-throwing arm and cannot fully extend it, but he expressed confidence that he can play through it as long as he has the right protection. [1]

Daniels plays quarterback in the National Football League after competing in college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils and the LSU Tigers. While playing with LSU in 2023, he won the Heisman Trophy after leading the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision in total yards and setting the single season passer rating record. [9]

The Commanders will host the Giants for their upcoming Week 5 game, Field Level Media reported. The New York Giants compete alongside Washington in the National Football Conference East division. [8][10]
