Generation Z Adults Turn Away From Alcohol in Growing Sober Movement

Generation Z adults are increasingly choosing to refrain from drinking alcohol in favour of healthier and lower-cost lifestyles. According to the New York Post, researchers at the Skyline Recovery Center surveyed 766 Generation Z adults between the ages of 21 and 29. The study found that 24 percent, or nearly one in four participants, do not consume alcohol. [1]

The New York Post reported that members of Generation Z drink less than Baby Boomers, Millennials, and Generation X. The trend towards sobriety originally began during the Covid-19 pandemic, which delayed traditional youthful drinking and visits to bars. [1]

Members of Generation Z are often children of younger Baby Boomers and Generation X. The zillennial micro-generation includes individuals born on the demographic border between Millennials and Generation Z, with birth years typically spanning from 1993 to 1998. [1][4]
