Fleeing driver injures NYPD officer in Bronx hit and run incident

A New York City Police Department officer was injured in a hit-and-run incident in the South Bronx on Saturday evening. The New York Post, News12 Bronx, and CBS News all reported that a driver struck the officer as police were responding to a report of a loud gathering. [1][2][3]

Officers responded around 7:20 p.m. to a 311 call regarding a large crowd and loud music near Garrison Avenue and Whittier Street, the New York Post reported. As officers arrived at the location, a man entered a white Honda SUV and drove off, hitting an officer in the left leg. [1]

The injured officer was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover, according to the New York Post. Authorities stated that no arrests have been made and the driver remained at large late Saturday. [1]

The incident follows other recent police investigations in the borough. As FTMQ News reported earlier, police previously searched for suspects after a 12-year-old girl was shot and injured in the Bronx crossfire of a suspected gang shooting on Tratman Avenue. [4][6]
