Egypt's parliament has delayed a vote on authorising military support for Saudi Arabia until next week following an emergency session that ended without a decision.

Egypt's parliament delayed a debate on Monday regarding a request from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to authorise military support for Saudi Arabia, state media reported. France 24 reported that the decision was moved to next week after an emergency session held a day earlier concluded without reaching a resolution. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Egypt previously announced its readiness to offer Saudi Arabia full support to defend its security and territorial integrity against continued attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen. President Sisi chaired a National Defence Council meeting to discuss support options while seeking diplomatic de-escalation after Saudi Arabia intercepted a wave of drones launched from Yemen. [13]
The legislative delay comes as Egyptian leadership considers the regional risks of direct military involvement in the Yemen conflict. Middle East Eye and Ynetnews reported that Cairo is weighing the risks of sending troops, amid warnings from Houthi rebels regarding potential consequences for Egyptian participation. [3][5]
In short
- Egypt's parliament delayed a debate on authorising military support for Saudi Arabia until next week.
