A prisoner who was freed early under a government scheme to relieve prison overcrowding has been returned to jail after committing 11 crimes in five days, the Daily Mail reported. Michael Bogle, aged 38, was arrested on Monday after going on a theft spree shortly after his release. [1]
According to the Daily Mail, Bogle stole more than 100 pounds worth of washing powder from a Sainsbury's store just 24 hours after being freed alongside 700 other offenders. Over the following three days, he shoplifted an additional 98.85 pounds worth of detergent from Tesco. [1]
The Daily Mail reported that the prolific offender, who is a registered sex offender, also entered a Sainsbury's store three times to steal despite being banned from the premises. Following his arrest, Bogle pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday and was sentenced to eight months in prison. [1]
