United States President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he has not yet made a determination on whether the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed, DW reported. DW noted that the plan to broadcast the execution has drawn criticism from both Republicans and Democrats. The comments came after the Pentagon announced it would broadcast the event live. [1][4]
According to DW, President Trump said that Hasan absolutely deserves the death penalty by firing squad. President Trump added that he does not really care how Hasan goes, as long as he goes. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, the United States Department of Defence announced that Hasan will be executed by an army firing squad on 3 December at Fort Hood in Texas. The execution is set to be the first United States military execution since 1961. [4]
Hasan is a 56-year-old former United States Army major and psychiatrist who killed 13 people and injured 32 others during a mass shooting at Fort Hood on 5 November 2009. Hasan admitted to the shootings during his court-martial in August 2013. [1][2][4]
