The disciplinary council of Portugal's Football Association has handed 41-year-old forward Cristiano Ronaldo a 30-day suspension and a fine of 255 euros, according to Al Jazeera and The Guardian. The ruling follows Ronaldo's decision to leave the national team camp after a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus regarding his role in the squad. Al Jazeera reported that the fine equals 285 dollars, while The Guardian reported the amount as 215 pounds. [1][2]

According to Al Jazeera, Ronaldo left the national team base in Copenhagen prior to a Nations League fixture against Denmark after alleging that Jesus had twice broken his word about his role, having remained an unused substitute. The Daily Mail reported that the suspension has been backdated to September 30, meaning Ronaldo will miss no matches and will be eligible for selection when Portugal plays Denmark on November 14. [1][3]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Ronaldo departed the camp before issuing a statement detailing his grievances with Jesus. He subsequently returned to club action for his Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, scoring in a 3-0 victory over Diriyah. In earlier statements, Ronaldo said that he is not retiring from international football but acknowledged he deserved punishment for his actions. [9][10]

Born in 1985, Ronaldo plays as a forward for Al-Nassr and serves as captain for the Portugal national team. He has scored 146 goals in 234 international appearances for his country. [7][9][10]

The Guardian reported that while the disciplinary council upheld the charge against Ronaldo in full, the president of the Portuguese Football Association has left the door open for his return to the national squad. [2]
