Cousin pays tribute to woman murdered by student in plastic lined room

The cousin of 24 year old Maria Saceanu has paid tribute to her following her murder by a student who was obsessed with the television show Dexter, the Daily Mail reported. Saceanu was lured to an Airbnb location where she was stabbed to death and her body was dismembered. [1]

According to the Daily Mail, 20 year old forensic science student Benjamin Day prepared a room at the property as a tribute to the drama series. He lined the bedroom floor, walls, and bed with plastic sheeting before the attack occurred. Saceanu last communicated with her cousin at 8pm on the night of her death. [1]

Dexter is an American crime drama series that originally aired on Showtime between 2006 and 2013. The show centers on a fictional Miami police forensic technician who leads a secret life as a vigilante serial killer. [3]

Describing her relative as one in a million, the cousin said Saceanu dreamed of becoming a mother, the Daily Mail reported. The cousin expressed hope that the killer would be haunted by regret for his actions. [1]
