A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty to causing a drunken disturbance on a Ryanair flight traveling from Barcelona to Cork. The Irish Examiner reported that police received a report of an intoxicated male passenger aboard the incoming aircraft before it landed on March 1, 2025. [1]
According to the Irish Examiner, Garda James Davis met the aircraft on the runway upon its arrival. Officers stated that the man was highly intoxicated, had slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet when he stepped off the plane. [1]
Sergeant John Dineen told Cork District Court that the suspect had caused a disruption during the flight. Gardaí arrested the man at the airport and transported him to Togher Garda Station, the Irish Examiner reported. [1]
Air rage incidents involving disruptive or violent behavior by passengers on the ground can lead to delayed departures and criminal charges. In-flight disruptions often require pilots to divert the aircraft and make emergency landings to remove individuals when passenger safety cannot be guaranteed. [2]
