A young Cork boy has settled a High Court action against University Hospital Kerry and the Health Service Executive for 165,000 euros over the care he received, the Irish Examiner reported. Fionn Barrett was six years old when he was brought to the hospital in Tralee in August 2020 after sustaining an injury while playing hurling. [1]

According to the Irish Examiner, Barrett suffered a corkscrew fracture to his thigh bone during the sporting incident. He spent two weeks in the hospital following his admission. His counsel, Richard Kean SC, told the High Court that the boy later required three surgeries. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the Health Service Executive recently resolved separate access road issues to move forward with planning for a delayed elective hospital in Glanmire, Cork. [3]
