Original band member Maizie Williams will lead an ensemble performing Boney M's classic hits at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, the Irish Examiner and the Irish Independent reported. The appearance coincides with the 50th anniversary of the disco group's first hit. [1][2]

The Irish Examiner reported that the group will perform popular tracks such as Rivers of Babylon. Group creator Frank Farian originally established Boney M, which achieved a string of major hit records throughout the 1970s and 1980s. [1]

Williams was born on the Caribbean island of Montserrat and later moved to Birmingham, England. She worked as a model and won the Miss Black Beautiful beauty contest in 1973 before being recruited to join Boney M in Germany in 1975. Although Williams did not sing on the group's studio recordings, she performed with them live. [4][6]

The Cork Jazz Festival is an annual music event held in Cork City, Ireland, every late October since it was founded in 1978. [3]
