An Post has recorded two animal attacks on postal staff in County Kerry so far this year, Radio Kerry reported. The national postal service has urged residents to keep their dogs under control inside houses and gardens while letters and parcels are being delivered. [1]

The incidents in Kerry come as An Post reported a 19 percent increase in animal attacks across Ireland over a 12 month period, according to Radio Kerry. Nationally, 118 animal attacks of varying degrees of severity have been recorded so far in 2026, which is an increase from 99 reported during the same period last year. [1]

The safety appeal comes as the busy holiday period approaches. Radio Kerry reported that An Post is specifically appealing to householders to ensure that pets are securely contained while mail deliveries are actively being made. [1]
