Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Latin American leaders to send urgent assistance to repair Ukraine's damaged power grid. Euronews reported that Zelenskyy delivered the message at the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, urging countries to send help as soon as possible. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Zelenskyy made an unannounced visit to Spain on Wednesday to attend the gathering. [1][8][15]

Every power plant in Ukraine has suffered damage in some way from Russian attacks, according to Euronews. Zelenskyy told attendees that Ukraine needs compatible energy equipment quickly and urged direct support to maintain grid connections. The Latin Times reported that the Ukrainian leader made an urgent request for transformers, cables, and generators to prevent a power collapse. [1][10]

Latin America is a cultural region in the Americas where Romance languages such as Spanish and Portuguese are predominantly spoken. Latin American nations and Spain were urged by Zelenskyy to help restore Ukraine's energy network, according to Ukrinform and AOL.co.uk. [2][8][12]

Separately, Al Jazeera reported that Zelenskyy voiced hope that recent Democratic Party gains in the United States midterm elections could lead to increased aid for Ukraine. In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, Zelenskyy discussed the potential for broader support after voters shifted control of the US Senate and House of Representatives to the Democrats. [4]
