South Carolina authorities charged three men on Wednesday with sexual assault offenses after Representative Nancy Mace previously named them during a 2025 speech on the floor of the United States House of Representatives, UPI reported. The arrests were also confirmed by AP News and CNN. The charges stem from an alleged 2018 assault involving an incapacitated 23-year-old woman. [1][2][8]

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged John Douglas Osborne, 46, Brendan Patrick Bryant, 53, and Eric Bernard Bowman, 46, according to UPI. Bryant is the former fiancé of Mace. UPI reported that all three men were booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center located in Charleston County, South Carolina. [1]

Mace has served as the United States representative for the 1st congressional district of South Carolina since 2021 and is a member of the Republican Party. She previously served in the South Carolina General Assembly between 2018 and 2020. [11]

The charges follow accusations Mace publicly detailed last year on the House floor. In addition to sexual assault charges, msnbc.com reported that the three men were charged with voyeurism connected to the incident described by the lawmaker. [1][6]
