Democratic candidate Johnny Garcia, who is running for Texas' 35th Congressional District, faced two unpaid suspensions while serving with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. Fox News reported that official records reveal the disciplinary actions were taken for insubordination, negligence, and conduct that would seriously impair job effectiveness. [1]
The first disciplinary action occurred in 2009 when Johnny Garcia brought a cellular phone into a secure area after receiving repeated instructions not to do so. Fox News reported that the second incident took place in 2020 after he left a firearm in an unsecured location where it was subsequently stolen. [1]
Disciplinary records uncovered through public record disclosures show that Johnny Garcia was suspended without pay during both instances. The candidate is currently seeking election in Texas' newly redrawn 35th District. [1]
The revelation follows scrutiny of other local Democratic contenders. As FTMQ News reported earlier, fellow Texas Democratic congressional candidate Katy Padilla Stout faced scrutiny after campaign spending records disclosed thousands of dollars spent on food, beer, and wine in March and April 2026. Texas will hold elections for thirty-eight seats in the United States House of Representatives on November 3, 2026. [1][3]
