Saudi led coalition launches airstrikes to lift Houthi siege in Taiz
Saudi-led forces launched airstrikes around the Yemeni city of Taiz to break an ongoing Houthi siege that has restricted civilian access to vital supplies.

Saudi-led forces have launched airstrikes against multiple positions around the Yemeni city of Taiz in an effort to break a siege by Houthi fighters, Al Jazeera reported. The city of Taiz has become the new frontline in the ongoing war between the internationally recognised government and Houthi forces. [1]
The military actions follow escalations across the region. Anadolu Ajansi reported that the Saudi-led coalition intercepted two Houthi ballistic missiles targeted at southwestern Saudi Arabia. In Taiz, recent Houthi shelling killed three civilians and injured five others, according to The Express Tribune. Additionally, Latest news from Azerbaijan reported that a Houthi commander was killed during clashes with Yemeni forces in the city. [2][3][4]
The military confrontation in Taiz initially began one month after the start of the Yemeni Civil War. Although the siege was partially lifted in June 2024 when a major road opened, Houthi forces encircled the city again during offensives in 2026. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Houthi troops launched a broader offensive in September 2026 and advanced to block access roads into Taiz. [5][6][7]
The renewed blockade has cut off essential supply routes into Taiz, leaving residents facing severe shortages of food, water, fuel, and medical aid. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Houthi forces have controlled northern and western Yemen since seizing the capital of Sanaa. [6][7]
