Saudi Arabia has scaled back its plans for the 2034 World Cup by suspending or scrapping its planned Neom Stadium project, according to reports by DW, FourFourTwo, LiveScore, and Parametric Architecture. DW reported that the country appears to be pulling away from sport as the broader project for the desert city known as The Line is significantly reduced. [1][8][9][11]

The planned 2.5 billion dollar venue was suspended and officially put on hold, according to LiveScore, The Cool Down, and Parametric Architecture. The project was billed as a unique stadium that would sit 350 meters above ground with a proposed capacity of 46,010 people, DW reported. [1][9][10][11][14]

FourFourTwo reported that the cancellation of the stadium in the sky puts Saudi Arabia's World Cup promises in doubt. The country won the right to host the 2034 tournament unopposed, DW reported. [1][8]
