At least 12 people were killed in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Saturday. Daily Express, New York Post, Ynetnews, and BBC News identified Iran-backed Houthi rebels as the force behind the missile attack. South China Morning Post, New York Post, and Al Jazeera confirmed that operations at the airport were suspended following the strike. DW cited the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation stating that the dead included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, one American, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, and one Palestinian. Images and videos online showed thick black smoke and flames rising from the airport, according to Daily Express and New York Post. An eyewitness told AFP that everyone was running after strikes hit the domestic terminal, as reported by Daily Express. The airport is located about 35 kilometres north of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Houthi rebels had also claimed a ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport on Thursday. Following Saturday's strike, New York Post and Ynetnews reported that United States President Donald Trump said Washington may join Saudi Arabia in responding to attacks from the group. [4][8][17]
